Architects: fuse-atelier (Shigeru Fuse)
Location: Abiko, Chiba pref., Japan

This project is a residence for a couple in their thirties, built in Abiko City. The client desired a gallery-like concrete-made space where their pleasure of designed furniture stands out.

The location is at the bottom of two plateaus on a soft foundation. Therefore, stakes were necessary to support a reinforced concrete structure. In order to reduce costs, contacting area to the ground was minimized and the number of stakes was reduced. Accordingly, the upper structure was cantilevered. Then, the walls in varying volumes and the roof slab were made into three-dimensional continuous slanted surface and the stress transmission was rationalized, which became a characteristic form.

The Participatory Resource Center of Malaga is an exempt building of 794 m2 promoted by the City of Malaga. This is an exempt building whose geometry has three parts twinned with each other around a courtyard, where all uses are oriented in the space relationship. The building is supported by the public space, by a piece rectangular courtyard which arises from the interaction of other parts.

Chicago-based artists Petra Bachmaier and Sean Gallero of Luftwerk have transformed Millennium Park into an interactive, choreographed light show titled Luminous Field. Colorful geometrical images set to music composed by Owen Clayton Condon of Third Coast Percussion illuminate “Cloud Gate”, commonly known as “The Bean”, and transform its surrounding plaza into a digital canvas. This site-specific video and sound installation is the first of its kind for Cloud Gate. Be sure to take part in this “immersive sculptural experience” before it concludes on February 20th. The spectacle begins each night at 6pm. Continue after the break for more images.

Baan San Kraam is the beach town condominiums development where the sales office is built near to the beach for people to see the show units and experience the nature of the sea. The architectural idea is simple and straight forward as this sales office is an entrance of the 2 show units. It is a platform for people to adsorb atmosphere of the sea.
The beams spanned across 14 meter length provides a framing of the great sea view. There are large sliding panels which provide enclosure to the sales office during a few months of raining period, apart from that period, the sliding panels are completely concealed within the wooden walls allowing natural cool air to breeze through.
